OCD Through Lived and Clinical Experience
Join nutritional therapist Joanne Lee for an insightful training session exploring Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) through both lived experience and clinical understanding.
After graduating from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2019, Joanne’s professional work has been shaped not only by her clinical training but also by her personal experience supporting a close family member with OCD. Since then, she has worked extensively with individuals affected by the disorder, developing a nuanced understanding of how OCD can present in everyday life.
This training offers professionals and interested individuals the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the realities of living with and supporting someone with OCD, alongside practical strategies informed by both experience and evidence-based practice.
Comprehensive Insights
Explore Joanne’s lived experience of supporting someone with OCD, including the realities that often sit behind common myths and misunderstandings about the condition. The session will explore concepts such as the “OCD monster,” Pure OCD, and the often-overlooked impact OCD can have on carers, family members, and friends.
Clinical Approaches
Gain an overview of OCD treatment pathways in line with NICE guidelines, including GP referrals, medication options, and considerations around withdrawal symptoms. Joanne will also share practical insights from her clinical work, including approaches to reassurance, comfort boundaries, appropriate testing, and the evidence-based practices and supplements she has found helpful when supporting clients.
