Module 2: Embracing Neurodivergent client and Eating Diversity With Tigger Pritchard, Jenny Langley, Kimberly -Anne Evens, Sam Hope, Lisa Smith & Bernie Wright 1 in 5 of us are Neurodivergent and a significant amount of our clients suffering with Eating Disorders and Distressed Eating are Neurodivergent. This pioneering new course will allow you to support this client group in a person centred way and recognise Neurodiversity in your client group. Aim: To expand further the knowledge and understanding of the Neurodivergent Client and how this impacts upon Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating Learning outcomes: To embrace and find strengths in the diagnosis. To focus upon the individual and not the diagnostic label. To take emphasis off the food by focusing upon health and nutritionally sound diet. To establish effective ways of communicating and establishing rapport with the Neurodivergent client group with Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating Understanding of how being eating disordered and being neurodivergent affects mental health. Gain knowledge of the importance of nutrition and how this can influence therapeutic outcomes The importance of understanding how our communication styles may influence whether we engage or disengage with our clients.
