Our day-long course, "Exploring Intersectionality of LGBTQIA+ Neurodiversity and Eating Disorderss" will be facilitated by our expert instructor, Denise Corby.

 

 

We are excited for you to lead our insightful day-long course, "Exploring Intersectionality of LGBTQIA+ Neurodiversity and Eating Disorders." Our expert instructor, Deni Corby, will guide participants through this enlightening journey. This course aims to shed light on the intricate intersections of LGBTQIA+, gender, neurodiversity, and eating disorders, fostering a deeper understanding and empathy.

Aims and Objectives:

  • Understanding: Attendees will develop a clearer understanding of the overlap not just of trans and autistic identities, but the wider LGBTQA+/neurodiversity overlap 
  • Impacts: Deepening our understanding of the effects of minority stress, micro-aggressions, and mental health on those in this intersection, as well as the many ways eating can be impacted by living at this intersection,,in order to develop our empathy and listen more accurately to clients from this demographic.  
  • Affirmative Practice: We’ll clear up what affirmative practice means (and what it doesn't) and offer up some dos and don'ts for creating spaces that are inclusive and supportive.
  • Unlearning: We will lay to rest many of society's myths, stereotypes, and assumptions.
  • Diversity: The course uses a diversity-based model to broaden understandings of the complexity of overlapping identities and gives a framework for understanding this diversity
