“Realising that I am neurodiverse has helped me immeasurably as I recover from Anorexia.
More and more, I am discovering aspects of my eating disorder that can be exasperated or explained by being neurodiverse.
Where previously I might have self blamed and experienced shame around certain ED behaviours, working with my therapist has allowed me to understand them in the context of neurodiversity has helped me to find new and creative mechanisms to deal with these difficult emotions.
Every day I am finding new ways to be kinder to myself and understand my uniqueness and neurodiversity as sources of power and strength in my journey to recovery from Anorexia.” (shared with permission).
