Henrietta Ray
Psychotherapeutic counsellor and coach
My name is Henrietta (Henri for short), and I am a dedicated and compassionate psychodynamic counsellor and coach committed to helping adults and young people (12+) to navigate the challenges and complexities of their lives.  As a neurodiversity affirming therapist, I value the beautiful differences that make each individual unique. I believe in strengths and rights, embracing the neurodivergent identity without seeking to fix or cure the neurotype. I'm LGBTQIA+ affirming and work to provide a safe and supportive space for all identities. I specialise in anxiety, ADHD and eating disorders. An area of specific interest to me is men who struggle with body image issues, eating disorders, BDD (body dysmorphic disorder), bigorexia, and muscle dysmorphia. I am committed to understanding the unique experiences and challenges that my clients face in relation to their bodies and self-image. Through empathetic listening and evidence-based techniques, I collaborate with my clients to explore the underlying factors contributing to their struggles with food, exercise, and body perception. My goal is to empower each person to cultivate a more positive relationship with their body, fostering self-acceptance and resilience. Together, we will work towards healing and personal growth, promoting a sense of balance and well-being in their lives. My therapeutic approach centres around the person and draws from a variety of approaches – from the rich depths of psychodynamics to the deep insights of neuroscience, the practical wisdom of CBT, and the empowering principles of coaching. It's a journey as unique as you are, guided by your needs and aspirations. My path to becoming a therapist has taken me from community counselling services to educational institutions, and now, to seeing clients in my private practice. I currently see clients in-person on Mondays, at my consulting room in the centre of Oxford, and online on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
